Creating a Checklist to Open a New Franchise Location
By default, FranConnect provides the Task Checklist to our customers. This checklist, once customized to your specific needs, is the checklist we recommend you use for most of your franchises' opening processes. For this reason, we recommend that you review this checklist and add/remove tasks to tailor it to your workflow.
To customize the Task Checklist, first log into your FranConnect environment. At the top of the page, click the gear icon to access your Admin controls.
On the following page, click Opener on the left-hand sidebar.
From the "Opener" section in Admin, click Task Checklist.
You will be taken to the following page:
From this page, you can modify the Task Checklist to meet your specific needs. To delete tasks from the checklist, click the gear icon that corresponds to the task you wish to delete and select Delete from the drop-down menu.
To add a task to the Task Checklist, click the Add More button at the top of the page.
You will be taken to the following page:
From this page, you can add up to ten more tasks to the checklist. If you need to add more, you can simply repeat this process. Click Add at the bottom of the page once you have confirmed that the entered information is correct.
You can also perform bulk actions from the main Task Checklist page. To do so, check the tasks on which you wish to perform a bulk action and then hover over the Actions drop-down. Note the different options you have in the screenshot below.
Next, let's take a look at how to assign a checklist to a unit in the opening process.
Associating a Checklist to a Franchise
To associate a checklist to a franchise, first log into your FranConnect environment. Click Opener on the left-hand sidebar and then select Unit Summary from the drop-down menu.
On the following page, click the Franchise ID for the franchise to which you wish to associate a checklist.
At the top-left portion of the franchise's profile page, click Modify.
Scroll to the bottom of the following page and you will see sections to associate primary and secondary checklists to the franchise. Check all of the checklists you wish to apply.
Note: We recommend using the Task Checklist for almost all use cases.
Click SAVE once you have confirmed that the checklists you wish to assign to the franchise are correct.
Working Through a Checklist
Navigate back to the "Unit Summary" page as we did in the section above. Click the Franchise ID of the franchise with the checklist you wish to work through. Scroll down on the page until you find the correct checklist and click on it.
You will be taken to the following page:
You will notice on this page that you can sort by the status of different tasks on the checklist. Possible statuses are: Pending, In Progress, Overdue, Not Applicable, Unscheduled, and Complete. To change the status of a task, click the name of the task in question. The following window will open up:
Click the "Status" drop-down menu and you will see the available options for the statuses that can be set for tasks. Once you have selected the correct status, proceed as prompted to confirm the new status.
If you wish to edit any details of a specific task, click the MODIFY button on the bottom-right. You will see three tabs, which we will cover here.
Details
From this tab, you can modify multiple details such as the name of the task, scheduled start and completion dates, when reminders are sent, etc.
Feeds
From this tab, users can leave comments on the task to help facilitate communication.
Documents
Here you can upload and view files that you wish to associate with the task in question.
Once you have modified each tab to your appropriate specifications, click SAVE and the task will reflect the changes you have made.
