Until now, the Opener module sent task-related emails one at a time, with a separate message triggered by each event, i.e., a task being assigned, a task being deleted, a schedule start reminder, a schedule completion reminder, an actual completion notification, or an overdue alert. Staying on top of everything meant piecing together a stream of individual emails.
The new Weekly Digest Email in Opener also added with other message triggered, consolidated snapshot. Each assigned user receives one email covering all of their open tasks across every location they handle, grouped by status. This guide walks you through what the digest is, when it arrives, how your tasks are organized, and how to jump from the email straight into live data in Opener.
Note: The Weekly Digest is sent to the person currently assigned to each task, based on the current assignee in Opener, so new assignments and reassignments are picked up.

What the Weekly Digest Is
The Weekly Digest is a single, consolidated email that reads your currently assigned tasks and sends each assignee a snapshot of their open tasks, grouped by status. Unlike the per-event emails, the digest does not fire on individual events; instead, it queries Opener once a week and sends one consolidated picture. Each person receives one email covering all of the locations they handle.
Note: Because the digest is based on the current assignee in Opener, reassignments are reflected automatically, i.e., the email always reaches whoever owns the task at the time the snapshot is taken.
Now that you know what the digest is, let's look at when it lands in your inbox.
When the Digest Arrives
The digest follows a fixed weekly schedule so you always know when to expect it:
- Cadence: weekly, on Monday morning at 8:00 AM in your tenant's configured time zone.
- Snapshot: the digest reads task state at 11:00 PM on the preceding Sunday in your tenant's time zone.
- Data-as-of stamp: the email displays a "data as of" timestamp so you know exactly when the snapshot was taken.
Note: In the current build the digest is set to Monday at 8:00 AM in the tenant's time zone. This schedule can be customized on a per-tenant basis.
With the timing clear, here's how your tasks are arranged inside the email.
How Your Tasks Are Grouped
The digest organizes your open tasks into five status groups, listed in priority order. Each group shows a count and the top five tasks, and a View All link appears only when a group has more than five tasks. A task can appear in more than one group when it qualifies for each.
1. Overdue: open tasks whose due date has passed.
2. Completing this week: tasks scheduled to complete within the current week.
3. Starting this week: tasks scheduled to start within the current week.
4. In progress: tasks currently underway.
5. Upcoming: a catch-all for everything else that is assigned and not yet Complete or N/A.
Note: Completed and Not Applicable tasks are excluded from every section, every count, and the summary total.
Once you have reviewed your grouped tasks, the digest makes it easy to act on them.
Viewing Live Data from the Digest
The digest gives you the weekly picture, while Opener always holds the current, real-time state. The email offers two ways to jump into Opener, and both open live data, including any changes made since the Sunday-evening snapshot:
- Selecting a specific task takes you directly to that task's detail page in Opener, where you can review and update it.
- View All takes you to the Opener task list for that status group.
Conclusion
The Weekly Digest turns a stream of individual task emails into one clear, weekly snapshot, so you always know what is open, overdue, and coming up across your locations, and you can jump straight into Opener to act on it.
