Update FranConnect records in bulk by turning a spreadsheet into XML with an AI tool and posting it to the FranConnect API.
You need your data in Excel or Google Sheets, access to FranConnect's API documentation for the XML schema, an AI tool in your approved environment, and an API client such as Postman with your FranConnect API credentials.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to updating FranConnect Data via API Using AI-Generated XML
Prepare your data
Build a sheet with one row per record, using column names that
match the FranConnect
schema (for example referenceId, areaID,
storeTypeId).
| referenceId | Area/Region | Store Type | Center Name | City | Country | Store Phone |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2125440062 | District 12 | Default | Andy Bay | Dunedin | New Zealand | 999-999-9999 |
| 35434454 | District 10 | Default | Ashburton | Auckland | New Zealand | 888-888-8888 |
Get the XML schema
From the API docs, copy the schema for the submodule POST path under the Update endpoint for your module.
<fcRequest>
<fimCenterInfo>
<referenceId></referenceId>
<areaID></areaID>
<storeTypeId></storeTypeId>
<centerName></centerName>
<city></city>
<country></country>
<storePhone></storePhone>
</fimCenterInfo>
</fcRequest>
Build the XML with AI
Give the AI tool your sheet and the template, and ask it to return only the finished XML.
Convert the data set below into XML that conforms to the FranConnect [Module Name e.g. FIM] module. Use the provided XML template and the field mapping in the attached Excel. Remove any tags that are not required or don't match the Excel. Return only the final XML in a single code block.
Use only an AI environment approved by your organisation, and check the output against the schema before sending — the AI may keep tags your data does not use.
Send the XML to the API
Post the XML to the submodule endpoint from Postman or your integration tool.
| URL |
https://<your-franconnect-url>/submodule?module=fim
|
| Method | POST |
| Headers |
Content-Type: application/xmlAuthorization: Bearer <your_access_token>
|
| Body | The XML from Step 3 |
Verify the update
Check for an HTTP 200 response, then open the records in FranConnect to confirm the new values appear.
If the API returns an error, look for missing or misspelled tags and invalid values, fix the XML and send it again. Test with two or three rows before running a large batch.
