How to Use Playbooks in FranConnect

How to Access Playbooks

To access playbooks in FranConnect, first log into your FranConnect environment. On the left-hand sidebar, click the Operations drop-down and select Playbooks.

You will be taken to the following page:

At the top of this page, you are able to filter tasks by their status as well as filter just the tasks that belong to you. Scrolling down on the page, you will see an overview of all of your playbooks.

You can drill down further into any given playbook by clicking the View Playbook button. You will be taken to a page that looks like this:

From this page, users can post a comment and filter tasks by status. Scrolling down on this page, we can drill further down to see the individual tasks assigned. Click the View Detail button on the box below to do this.

You will be taken to the following page:

From here, you can add tasks using the ADD ACTIVITY drop-down (either a new task or an existing one from your library). You can also edit or delete your individual tasks by clicking the ... button next to the individual task.

Now that we have learned how to navigate our playbooks, let's take a look at how to create a playbook from scratch.

Creating a Playbook Template

To create a playbook, navigate to the main Playbooks page as described above. At the top of the page, click the SETTINGS button.

On the top right-hand portion of the page, click the CREATE button and select Playbook Template from the drop-down menu.

Fill in the required information and click SAVE once you have confirmed that the information you have entered is correct. 

Note: If you set a playbook template as private, only you will be able to view it.

Once you have created your new template, you will be taken to the template page.

From here, you are able to add tasks to your playbook template. Let's take a look at how to do that.

Adding Tasks to a Playbook Template and Launching Your Playbook

To add a task to a playbook template, navigate to the template page as can be seen in the screenshot above. Click the ADD ACTIVITY drop-down and select New.

Note: If you have tasks already configured in your library, you can also select Choose from Library, but for the purposes of this example, we will configure a new task.

Fill out the following form that pops up.

Note: If you choose a custom task type, you will be required to assign the task to a resource in the FranConnect system.

Once you have confirmed that the information you have entered is correct, click SAVE. You will see your task reflected on the playbook template page. Once you have added all of the needed tasks and you are ready to start the playbook, click LAUNCH at the top of this page.

You will be taken to the following page:

Create a Playbook Instance Name. You can also add a brief description of the playbook if you choose. Once you have entered your assigned resources and confirmed that the entered information is correct, press LAUNCH. Your playbook is now live and ready to provide results.
