Overview
A franchise user account is sometimes created as an Employee and later needs to be an Owner, for example when a franchise is transferred to a new owner and the new owner's account was originally set up as an employee. Rather than deleting and re-creating the account, an administrator can convert the existing user directly from the Manage Franchise Users page using the Change To Owner action.
This guide explains where to find the action and how to apply it to one or more users.
1. Before You Begin
Confirm the following before changing a user:
- You have access to the Admin area and can open Manage Franchise Users.
- The user already exists as an active franchise user.
- You know which user(s) should be owners. If several people take over the franchise, each one is changed separately.
2. Change a User to Owner
- Navigate to Admin > Users > Manage Franchise Users.
- On the Active Users tab, locate the user. Use the Name or Login ID filters (or the A-C, D-F letter buttons) and click Search to narrow the list.
- In the Action column for that user, click the gear icon to open the action menu.
- Select Change To Owner.

Note: The page lists franchise users with a type indicator next to each name: O for Owner and E for Employee. Use it to confirm the user's current type before and after the change.
Important: If the user is an employee of multiple stores, changing them to Owner makes them an owner of ALL of those stores. If the person needs to remain an employee at some stores and be an owner of only one, they need two separate accounts.
3. Changing Multiple Users
Change To Owner is applied one user at a time. When more than one person is taking over a franchise, repeat the steps in Section 2 for each user.
Important: Only change users who should actually hold ownership. Users who remain employees of the franchise should be left as Employee accounts.
