Fixing Video Encoding Issues

The purpose of this article, is to provide instructions for saving/encoding your video files into a format that is fully compatible with the World Manager platform. We only recommend following these guides, if you have had issues with getting your videos to upload and/or play on the platform.

YouTube

The easiest method to fix any problems you may encounter with video files, is by uploading them to YouTube. As YouTube has built-in advanced video conversion, it will 'clean' the video(s) of any encoding issues, which you can then download for use on the platform.

This article provides information on how to upload & download videos using YouTube, for use with your platform. So you need to have a YouTube account.

Attention: Please keep in mind that these instructions are how to currently upload & download videos through the YouTube website. However, YouTube can make changes to this process at any time (without warning). Please also consider if this is the best solution for your intended purpose.

1. Open your preferred browser

2. Go to https://www.youtube.com

3. Click on the "SIGN IN" button (top right), and log in using your Google account

4. Once logged in, click on your profile icon (top right), and select the "YouTube Studio" option

5. Click on the "CREATE" button (top right), then select the "Upload videos" option

6. Click on the "SELECT FILES" button, then select the video file(s) you wish to upload

Tip: You can also drop-and-drop files directly into the 'Upload videos' window.

7. On the 'Details' tab, complete all applicable (and required) fields in the the form (e.g. Title, Description etc.), then click on the "NEXT" button

8. On the 'Video elements' tab, click on the "NEXT" button

9. On the 'Visibility' tab, tick the "Private" option, then click on the "SAVE" button

Note: Ticking the "Private" option, ensures your video is not publicly uploaded to YouTube (for public view).

10. Once the video has been uploaded & saved, click on the "Videos" menu item (left side)

11. Locate the video in the list, hover over it, then click on the three-dot icon and select the "Download" option

12. Repeat Step 11 for any/all videos you uploaded

Now that you have downloaded the video file(s), you will be able to successfully upload them to whichever tool(s) you were previously having an issue with.

Note: Once you have successfully uploaded the video(s) to your platform, feel free to delete them from your YouTube account.
